Wayne R. Schuler, 81, Two Harbors, died Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Ecumen Scenic Shores.
He was born on June 20, 1934 to Ralph and Charlotte (Burns) Schuler in Duluth, where he grew up and attended schools, graduating from Duluth Central High School. He was employed at Con-Agra in Superior for many years and lived in Solon Springs as a bachelor. A collector of horse drawn buggies and sleighs, in 1981 he happened to meet an elementary school classmate, Susanne Kobe Pederson to buy an antique buggy she owned. In 1983 they married and moved to Duluth and to Two Harbors in 1995.
Wayne was a member of Knife River Lutheran Church, and Aad Temple of the Shrine.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Pat Taylor.
He is survived by his wife, Susanne; and daughters, Julie (Brad) Shafer of Alexandria and Heidi (Nick) Kipp of Sioux City, Iowa; grandchildren, Amanda, Meghan, Caleb, Joseph and Madeline; great-grandchildren, Carson, Landon, Hadley, and Braysen; and nieces and nephews.
Wayne’s family would like to thank the staff of St. Luke's Hospice and Ecumen Scenic Shores in Two Harbors for the exceptional care they provided.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Knife River Lutheran Church, the National Alzheimer’s Association, or the American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be held from Noon until the 1 PM service on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Knife River Lutheran Church in Knife River.
