Two Harbors

Barbara Jean (Brown) Beatty, 72, of Two Harbors, MN, passed away on Saturday, November 21st, 2020 at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, MN.

Barbara was born on March 27, 1948 in St. Paul, MN.  She was adopted and raised by her loving parents, Verne and Pearl (Force) Brown of Two Harbors and Pequaywan Lake and graduated from Two Harbors High School in 1966.  In 1967 she married Elroy Math of Breckenridge, MN, and their daughter Holly was born in 1970, then living in Minneapolis for several years and divorcing in 1972.  She remarried to Glen Beatty of Princeton, IL in 1975, then living in Ely, MN, divorcing 2 years later.  Barb cherished her hometown and community of Two Harbors, as well as time spent with family in the Tampa, Florida area and Odessa, Texas.  She and Holly returned to Two Harbors in 1983, where she drove the "blue bus" for Arrowhead Transit and worked for AEOA for many years with her accounting degree from Duluth School of Business, as well as her love and dedication to helping others.  Prior to that, she held several jobs such as working the fountain counter at the original Falk's Rexall store, bartending at the original American Legion, accounting office work for small offices, and driving school bus for Lake County School District.

Barb was a hard worker, and truly cared about her hometown, Lake County, and her co-workers.  After suffering a stroke in 1995, Barb was very grateful for years of Personal Care Assistance through Heartland PCA and considered and treated her PCA girls as family.  She treasured her best friends Jack and Gay Reasoner, and the entire Reasoner family for a lifetime of love and friendship, as well as years of selfless, above and beyond PCA care.  Barb was passionate about life in the northland, nature and wildlife, hunting and fishing, gardening, and cabin life.  She also helped plant over 2,500 trees in her beloved Brimson area.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents Verne and Pearl Brown, and sister and brother-in-law Arlene and Marvin Pearson, and her previous brother-in-law Alan Anthony.  She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, and several beloved aunts and uncles.  She especially treasured her uncle Pastor Maynard Force of Pequaywan Lake and her aunt Florence Sellman.

Barb is survived by her daughter, Holly Math of Two Harbors, and her sister, Shirley (Anthony) O'Connor of Fairbanks, Alaska, as well as several beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews and their families.  Two Harbors, Florida, Texas, Pequaywan and Coyote, and friends and family will forever live in her heart.
