Two Harbors

Beatrice M. Fjeran, 95, of Two Harbors died Sunday, November 29, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth.

Bea was born February 28, 1925 to Paul and Elsie (Oberg) Saari in French River, where she grew up alongside her sister Lou. She graduated from Clover Valley High School in 1943. She married Ryal Gelineau in 1944 and lived in Duluth for ten years before moving to Two Harbors in 1956. She and Bill Fjeran married in 1967 and enjoyed 35 years together.

Bea was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, and especially enjoyed the Peacemakers Quilting Group. Her coffee pot was always on for friends to stop by for a cup of coffee and cookies.

She enjoyed knitting, baking, crafts, birdwatching, quilting, watching the Minnesota Twins, the Vikings and all sports and more recently, she delighted in keeping in touch with her family and friends via text and Facebook on her iPad, always signing off with her signature “bee” emoji.  You could always count on “Grandma Bea” for a smile and a warm hug - she was everyone’s Grandma.

Bea was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Lucille Stassen; both husbands; daughters, Jan Hagenbrock and Linda Costley; and grandsons, Ross Jackson and Kristopher Sjodin.

She is survived by her children, Tom (Teresa) Gelineau, Dean (Barb) Gelineau, Mary (Keith) Sjodin; sons-in-law, Jerry Hagenbrock and Keith Costley; daughter-in-law, Joan Gelineau; step-children, Carla (Ray) Jackson and William Jr. (Dana) Fjeran; The joy of her life was her 16 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

A private graveside service has been held. A public Celebration of Bea’s Life will be held when circumstances allow.
