Larsmont

Dale F. Isackson, 89, of Larsmont, died Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Lake View Hospital in Two Harbors, after suffering a stroke.

Dale was born to Oliver and Vera (Hill) Isackson on September 10, 1931 in Two Harbors, and was a life-long resident of Larsmont. After graduating from high school he attended UMD for two years. During the Korean War he served in the  U. S. Army from August 1954 until July 1956 stationed in Japan. He then married Delores Johnson.

Dale was employed at the DM&IR Railroad, then Reserve Mining Company from 1962 until 1968, when he joined MN DOT, retiring in 1994.

He and Delores enjoyed and taught clogging which led to his design and patent of the Bell Tap. A ham radio operator, he was also a certifed examiner. He enjoyed Lake Superior fishing, time in the woods, operating his sawmill, inventing, and was a proud caretaker of the US flag at the Larsmont school house.

Dale was a member of the American Legion and the Archery Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, Phyllis; and brothers, James and Charles.

Dale is survived by his wife, Delores, daughter, Dale Ann (Mark) Widen; sons, Doug (Julie) Isackson and Dwight Isackson; grandchildren, Jamie (Jason) Skagerberg, Jason (Shayla) Widen, Samantha (Mark) Krsiean, Erik Isackson, and Alexandra Isackson; many cherished great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol Westerland; and nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 1-2 PM on Thursdy May 27, 2021 at Cavallin Funeral Home in Two Harbors. Burial and military honors will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.  To share your memories or condolences online please visit www.cavallinfuneralhome.com.
