JoAnn Payment, 87, Two Harbors, died Thursday July 26, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth.

She was born May 4, 1931 to Leo and Edna (Noble) LaGesse in Superior, WI.  After graduating from high school JoAnn attended UMD graduating cum laude with a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology. JoAnn was employed by the Lake Superior School District # 381 as a high school substitute teacher.  She also served as the Community Education Director and was instrumental in the building of the Two Harbors Community Center and it’s programs.  She married Bob on January 10, 1959 in Milwaukee.  She was an active Girl Scout Leader for 8 years, and member of the VFW Auxiliary and Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Two Harbors.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Bob.

JoAnn is survived by her sons, George Jansen of Crystal, MN and Conrad Jansen of Austin, TX; daughter Joette (Roy) Hanson of Two Harbors; brothers Robert (Lucille) LaGesse of Superior, John (Mary) LaGesse of Iron River, WI and Gerald (Janice) LaGesse of Austin, TX; sister Catherine Skamarycz of Lake Nebagamon, WI; grandchildren Danielle (Tom) Vold of Raleigh, NC, Christine (Randy) LeMay, Lennon (Krystal) Hanson, Nathan Hanson all of Two Harbors; great -grandchildren Kara and Logan Vold and Lane LeMay; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 11 AM until 1 PM on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Cavallin Funeral Home in Two Harbors. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
