Lance Petersen, 64, Two Harbors, died Friday, April 17, 2020 at Solvay Hospice House.

Lance was born September 28, 1955 to Leonard and Pauline (Illgen) Petersen in Duluth. He grew up at the family homestead at Illgen City on the North Shore, where the family operated the Aztec Hotel and Whispering Pines Resort. After graduating from high school in Silver Bay in 1974, Lance served in the U. S. Air Force from 1974-1978.  He attended UWS for 2 years where he met Sandra Leckel and they were married on June 21, 1980 at Kenwood Lutheran Church in Duluth.  Lance was employed as security officer at St. Mary’s Medical Center for nearly 30 years.

As a faithful and true believer, Lance was a member and elder of Living Waters Fellowship.  He was also a member of the American Legion.

He enjoyed car shows, camping with Sandra, mini-golf, and jigsaw puzzles.

Lance was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Samara, and a sister, Lenine.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Sandra; daughters, Leandra, Paulina (Taylor) Flicek of Princeton, and Tirzah; a brother, Jan (Mary) Petersen of Avon Park, MN; nieces and nephews, Todd, Kari, Kelly, Alicia, Michele, Janova, Barb, Alice, and Linda; mother-in-law, Edith Leckel; and brother-in-law, Dave Leckel.

Private graveside services will be held at Crystal Bay Cemetery in Finland. Memorial service will be held when circumstances allow, at Living Waters Fellowship in Two Harbors.
