Mary Michaelson

April 29, 1941 — April 26, 2021

Two Harbors

Mary Margaret (Swanson) Michaelson, 79, died Monday, April 26, 2021 at Solvay Hospice House after a long struggle with ALS.

Mary was born April 29, 1941 to Edwin and Anne (Nelson) Swanson in Two Harbors, where she was a life-long resident. After graduating from Two Harbors High School in 1959, she attended North Central Bible College in Minneapolis and married Allen Michaelson on October 8, 1960.

Mary was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She treasured her children, especially loved her role as Nana, and was a gifted encourager of all who crossed her path. She loved to help and serve others, sharing her homemade bread and jam, sewing, crocheting, knitting, and making blankets and quilts for new parents and their babies, visiting residents at Two Harbors nursing homes, fixing meals, and babysitting. Doing food demos at Super One for many years was one of her favorite ways to connect with members of the community. Sharing coffee and conversation and visiting with friends was always a highlight of her days.

Mary’s relationship with Jesus was the most important thing in her life. She accepted Jesus as her personal Savior at age 8 and shared her faith throughout her lifetime, leading many family members and friends to the Lord. The Charismatic Revival in the 1970s was a major influence in her life. A faithful member of Living Waters Fellowship for 72 years, she served in many areas including Elder, Children’s Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent, Women’s Ministries, Head of Prayer Team, Director of Healing Grace Prayer Room, Elijah’s Food Pantry volunteer, Service Greeter, the Singing Cross Choir, and singing duets with her husband.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Allen, and her siblings, Marvin “Buddy” Wick, Jeanne Sandness, James Swanson, and Betty Lou Larson.

Those privileged to have shared Mary’s life include her children, Rebecca (Gennaro) Migliaccio, Julie (Tim) Holdsworth, and Joel (Serena) Michaelson; 12 grandchildren, Joseph, Dominic (Angie), Julia, Rosa, Vincent, Micah, Marie, and Haddon Migliaccio, Jaden and Tamryn Holdsworth, and Charles and Malachi Michaelson; brother, Duane (Lois) Wick; sister-in-law, Eileen Wick; many nieces, nephews, cousins, “adopted” sons and daughters and friends.

Flowers are appreciated or a donation in Mary's memory to Living Waters Fellowship, Missionary Fund.
