Matthew Klug

Matthew W. Klug, 70, Two Harbors, died peacefully at home on Thursday, March 3, 2022..

Matthew was born June 26, 1951 to John and Laverne (Landgren) Klug in Two Harbors, where he was a lifelong resident. After graduating from high school in 1970, he attended vocational school in Willmar to learn the sign painting trade. Matt was employed as a laborer in the Bridge and Building Department of the DM& IR Railroad for 30 years, and enjoyed sign painting.

Matt was an enrolled member of the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa and enjoyed their powwows. He also enjoyed his sign painting, and classic cars, especially his ’50 Oldsmobile.

Matt is survived by his son, Luke and Luke’s mother, Carol; brothers, John Paul (Cynthia) Klug, and Mark Klug (Amy Church); sisters, Alice Aho and Martha (Tom) Hanson; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Matt’s Life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors. Lunch will follow at the American Legion.
