Muriel Widen

Muriel D. Widen, 98, Two Harbors, died Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Waterview Shores.

Muriel was born March 14, 1924 to James and Margaret (Towl) Donovan in Two Harbors, where she was a life-long resident. In 1945, she married Raymond Widen and together they owned and operated Ray’s Shoes for 27 years.

Muriel was a member of the United Church. She enjoyed golf, bridge, the cabin on Kane Lake, and time with her family. She will be remembered for her Irish wit, and her Swedish meatballs.

Muriel was preceded in death by her parents;  her husband of 71 years, Raymond; and her sisters, Dorothy Waxlax and Ruth Lindstrom.

She is survived by her children, Jim (Julia) of Two Harbors and Carol Widen of Amery, WI; grandchildren; Elizabeth (Michael) Marks, Barbara (Donald) Crain, Joseph Forrest, Rachel (Scott) Gischia, Laura (Christian) von Goertz, and Matthew Widen; 8 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Muriel’s family wuold like to thank Dr. Shawn McMahon, and the staffs of Waterview Shores Assisted Living, Lake View Hospital, and Waterview Shores Care Center for the wonderful care they provided.
