Shawn M. Brown, 36, of Silver Bay, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 in Finland.

Shawn was the son of Randy and Mary (Erickson) Brown and was born on December 21, 1984 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. He grew up in Silver Bay and graduated from Kelley High School in 2003, where he was an avid hockey and baseball player. After graduating from WITC in 2006, Shawn was employed by VanHouse Construction at North Shore Mining and later worked for North Shore, finishing there on the railroad. Most recently he was working for Vern Hoff Construction.

An avid Bulldog Hockey, Minnesota Twins baseball, and Minnesota Vikings football fan, Shawn also enjoyed hunting, agate picking and fishing especially in the BWCA. But most of all Shawn treasured every moment he spent with his daughter Andrea who was undoubtedly the love of his life.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Donald Erickson, grandparents, Joan and Virgil Helgeson, and an aunt, Nancy Erickson.

He is survived by his parents, Randy and Mary Brown; his former wife, Paola Brown and their daughter, Andrea; brother, Jake (Kelli) Brown; niece, Finley Rose; grandmother, Carol Gustafson; grandfather, Thomas Brown; special friend, Amber Juhl; and many extended family and close friends.

A Celebration of Shawn’s life will be held with a memorial service to begin at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 4th at the Re-Union Hall in Silver Bay. Lunch and social time to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family will be collecting monetary donations which will be given to Shawn's daughter Andrea.
